A little bit of history :

Boules Sports or Lyonnaise Boules before the 30-40’s was played in Mâcon in “ clos ”, e.g. the “ stand ” which had great success. Sometimes it was played on the Quai Lamartine and the Quai des Marans.
The “ Union Bouliste Mâconnaise ” was managed by Mr. Claude DUFOUR. For the great events, Boules Sports was played in front the “ Maison des vins ” (Wine’s House). Thanks to Mr. Jean DUCLOUX that became president in 1966, the “ UBM ” obtained from the mayor, Mr. Louis ESCANDE, the right to use a part of the Exhibition Park to play on 8 courts with stands in 1974.

Great events :

1 world senior Championship in 1978 with a final that took 7 h 30. It was won by the French team of “ Four ” of Bernard CHEVIET against the Italian team of GRANAGLIA.
1 world “ Cadet ” Championship in 1973.
6 National in “ Four ” Championships in 1961, 1976, 1981, 1987, 2001 and 2007.
1 National Sports Clubs Championships in 2006.

Nowadays :

The “ ESBM ” is composed of 17 sections with about 700 members. It has a formation center for “ Benjamins ” “ Minimes ” and “ Cadet ”. The Sports clubs plays in Elite 2 category.

The events / The organisation are :

The Great price of the city of Mâcon in National, “ Bol d’Or bouliste ”, a 36 hours non-stop event.

The “ESBM” has 12 indoors courts and 20 outdoors courts inaugurated in April 2000.
